Carton Printing Machine for Packaging Industry: Why Production Workflow Matters More Than Maximum Speed

September 09, 2026

A carton printing machine for packaging industry production is rarely selected in isolation.

The printer sits inside a real workflow.

Cartons need to arrive consistently, artwork needs to be prepared correctly, the printing mode needs to match the quality requirement, and finished boxes have to leave the printing area without slowing down the rest of production.

The FAITH A3+ Single Pass Digital Printer is designed for continuous digital printing on absorbent packaging materials such as cartons, corrugated boxes and paper bags. It uses Epson A3+ printheads, CMYK printing and a single-pass structure, with one to three printheads available in the standard configuration.

The machine can reach up to 987 mm printing width with three heads, while wider configurations can be customized.

Digital Printing Is Useful When Orders Change Frequently

Traditional packaging printing normally requires preparation before a design can go into production.

This single-pass system is plate-free.

The product page specifically promotes it for fast proofing, small-batch replenishment and urgent orders, because images can be changed digitally without making a new printing plate or repeating conventional color registration.

For a packaging factory, this can matter when one carton line serves several SKUs.

For example, the physical carton may stay the same while the logo, flavor, product information or promotional artwork changes.

In such a project, the important question is not only how many cartons the printer can run.

It is also how quickly the factory can move from one design to the next.

Production Speed Should Be Matched to the Required Print Mode

The machine does not have one fixed printing speed.

FAITH lists three modes:

Sketch mode reaches up to 48 m/min, HD mode up to 24 m/min, and Ultra HD up to 12 m/min. The corresponding listed print resolutions increase from 1200 × 400 dpi to 1200 × 1600 dpi.

This gives packaging factories a real production decision.

If the printed content is a simple large logo and basic information, maximum image detail may not be necessary.

If the carton is retail-facing and contains finer graphics, the factory may accept a lower line speed to obtain a different print result.

We prefer to determine this from the actual artwork.

Using the fastest published number for production planning before checking the print file can create the wrong capacity expectation.

Material Is Part of the Production Process

The printer is intended for absorbent packaging media. The manufacturer's examples include cartons, corrugated boxes and paper bags.

That boundary matters.

A customer should not assume that every material moving on a conveyor can be printed with the same setup.

For cardboard projects, we want to know whether the surface is kraft, white-faced or another absorbent paper material.

The real board should be tested when print appearance is important.

If a customer also needs to print on a non-absorbent surface, we would treat that as a separate application instead of simply assuming the same configuration.

Maintenance Should Be Considered in Daily Production

The machine includes an automatic printhead cleaning system, and the product page also highlights one-key ink extraction and a self-developed printing control system.

These are not dramatic marketing points, but they matter during daily use.

A carton printer used in production needs to start consistently, switch artwork efficiently and keep the printing system in workable condition.

Factories looking at a carton printing machine for packaging industry use should therefore evaluate the whole process:

the incoming carton, printing width, artwork, required resolution, ink choice and expected production rhythm.

For this FAITH model, those factors determine whether one, two or three A3+ printheads are the sensible configuration.
