Why More Factories Use Online Large Character Inkjet Printers for Outer Packaging

Many factories already print small date codes on bottles, bags or pouches. The code looks clear on the product itself. But after the products are packed into cartons, stacked on pallets and wrapped with film, that small code is no longer useful for warehouse workers.

A forklift driver cannot read a 3 mm code from a pallet. A warehouse worker does not want to open sealed cartons just to check the batch number. A distributor needs to see product name, production date, carton quantity and shipping mark directly on the outer package.

This is one reason more factories use online large character inkjet printers for cartons, drums, bags and other large packages.

In many workshops, the old method is still manual labeling or handwriting. At low production volume, it may look acceptable. Workers print labels in advance, paste them on cartons, and check the order before shipment. But when the factory handles hundreds or thousands of cartons per day, small mistakes become difficult to avoid.

Labels may be pasted on the wrong side. Different product labels may be mixed during night shift. Handwriting is not consistent. In humid warehouses, label edges may curl. For export orders, if the customer changes language, batch information or shipping mark, old labels may become waste.

The label cost itself is not always the biggest problem. The real problem is slow operation, wrong identification and repeated checking.

An online large character inkjet printer solves this problem in a more direct way. The printer can be installed beside the conveyor. When the carton, plastic drum, woven bag or wooden case passes the sensor, the printhead marks the required information directly on the surface.

The operator does not need to paste labels one by one. He only selects the saved message template, changes the date or batch number, and starts production.

For outer packaging, the printed content is usually practical. Factories often print production date, expiry date, batch number, product name, carton quantity, model number, destination mark, direction arrow or simple logo. Some production lines may also need QR codes or barcodes for traceability and warehouse management.

The most important point is visibility.

A small code may be enough for retail packaging, but cartons and drums need larger information. A 25 mm or 50 mm high character is much easier to read in the warehouse. Workers can separate batches faster. Export customers can check product information before loading. The production manager can trace which shift packed the goods.

Online large character printing is used in many industries.

Food factories use it for outer cartons of flour, seasoning, bottled drinks, frozen food and edible oil. Daily chemical factories print on detergent cartons, shampoo cartons and plastic bottles. Chemical factories mark drums and large containers. Agricultural factories print on seed bags, feed bags and woven sacks. Building material factories use it for cement bags, boards and wooden cases. Pipe manufacturers may print model numbers or batch codes directly along PVC or metal pipes.

Different materials need different setups.

Corrugated cartons are usually easier to print because the surface absorbs ink. Coated cartons may need better adhesion. Plastic drums require fast-drying ink. Woven bags may move slightly on the conveyor, so the printhead position and product guiding are important. Wooden cases may absorb ink unevenly. Before choosing a printer, real material testing is always better than only checking catalog parameters.

Line condition also affects the printing result.

If the carton shakes on the conveyor, the code may not be straight. If the sensor is installed in the wrong position, the trigger may be unstable. If the printhead is too far from the surface, the character edges may become fuzzy. If the ink does not match the material, the code may rub off during handling or transportation.

This is why a good large character printing solution should be selected according to the actual production line, not only the printer model.

For many factories, easy operation is also important. The operator may not be an engineer. He may need to seal cartons, check weight, move packages and change print content during the same shift. If the printer menu is too complicated, mistakes can happen. Saved templates, simple date editing and stable automatic triggering can make daily operation much easier.

Faith online large character inkjet printers are designed for outer packaging identification on cartons, drums, bags, pipes, boards and wooden cases. They can help factories reduce manual labeling, improve package identification and keep batch information visible from production to shipment.

For buyers, the most useful preparation is to provide real package photos, material information, required print content, print height, conveyor speed and installation space. With these details, the printer, ink and bracket setup can be matched more accurately.

A large character printer is not only a coding machine. For many factories, it is a small upgrade that makes the whole packing and warehouse process easier to manage.
